Kathy Christiansen Memorial Scholarship Information

"The Kathy Christensen Memorial Scholarship" was named in memory of Kathy, who was instrumental in setting up and managing the scholarship in the early years of the Scholarship.

The Villages Iowa Club awards at least one Scholarship every year.

2024 Scholarship Dates:

  • Applications for the 2024 Scholarships will be announced via email to Club members sometime mid-March 2024.
  • Once the Club opens the application window, the application form will appear on the bottom of this page.

Conditions of the Scholarship Award:

  • The applicant MUST be recommended by an active member of The Villages Iowa Club.
  • The applicant MUST be the club member’s spouse, child, grandchild, or great grandchild.
  • The applicant MUST be:
    • A high school graduate in the year they apply AND be accepted into a post high school institution within the State of Iowa
       OR
    • Already enrolled and attending a post high school institution within the state of Iowa, to include but is not limited to, a Technical Program, Junior College, Trade School, a four-year public or private University and/or a graduate program.
  • The Club will award a Scholarship to a recipient for ONLY one (1) year.
  • Each scholarship the Club awards is done so with no expectation of a possible or guaranteed renewal to the same recipient in subsequent years.
  • The Villages Iowa Club scholarship committee will have members representing a variety of the State of Iowa schools and Universities.

ESSAY COMPONENTS:

Each Scholarship Applicant must address EACH of the following four (4) components in the Essay portion the application.

    1. Describe your high school and college (if applicable) activities. Examples of activities include, but are not limited to, participation in student government, sports, publications, school-sponsored community service programs, student-faculty committees, arts, music, etc. List the activities in order of significance.
    2. Describe your participation in any activities related to public service, community activities and/or volunteer work. Please include the amount of time you participated.
    3. Describe what you hope to do/what position you hope to get upon completing your post high school studies.​
    4. Include any additional personal information that you wish to share with The Villages Iowa Club Scholarship Committee.
